Turn Your Passion for Golf into a Career

Love golf and want to help others enjoy the game? A career as a PGA of America Professional combines your passion for golf with opportunities in coaching, golf operations, business, and leadership.

PGA Professionals work at golf courses, clubs, academies, and businesses throughout the industry. Through education and practical experience, they develop the skills to serve golfers, lead successful operations, and grow the game.

Where Can a Career in Golf Take You?

  • Teaching & Coaching: Help beginners get started, develop junior golfers, and coach players toward their goals.
  • Golf Operations: Deliver great experiences through tournaments, golf shop operations, merchandising, and member services.
  • Leadership & Management: Build your career toward roles such as Head Professional, Director of Golf, or General Manager.
  • Player Development & Community Programs: Create opportunities that introduce more people to golf and connect the game with your community.

Your Path to PGA Membership

There are two primary pathways to PGA of America Membership. The right starting point depends on your education, employment, and career goals.

PGA Associate Program

The PGA Professional Golf Management Associate Program combines education and practical experience while you work in eligible golf employment. Participants complete qualifying requirements and progress through coursework, seminars, and portfolios toward PGA Membership.

PGA Golf Management University Program

PGA-accredited university programs combine a college education with golf management training and internship experience, preparing students to fulfill the requirements for PGA Membership.

Not Yet Eligible to Become an Associate?

The PGA Affiliate Program offers a starting point for individuals who do not yet meet Associate registration requirements. Eligible participants can begin their education while working toward the requirements needed to become an Associate.
