The Western Washington Chapter Seniors and Oregon Chapter Seniors renewed their annual rivalry August 26-27 at Salish Cliffs Golf Club in Shelton, Washington, for the 2026 Hagen Cup. Western Washington was captained by 2025 Mike Coury Senior Player of the Year Dan Franson, while Oregon was led by Captain Steve Vancil.
Wednesday’s opening day featured six Four-Ball matches over the first nine holes followed by six Foursomes matches on the second nine. Oregon jumped out to a commanding start, sweeping all six Four-Ball matches to take an early 6-0 advantage.
Western Washington responded in the Foursomes session, led by Scott Linson and Jeff Groshell, who earned a 3 & 1 victory over Ted Westling and Dominic Marconi. Brian Davis and Johnny Sanford halved their match with Chuck DaSilva and Kevin Coombs, while Dean Russell and Dan Harrington also earned a half point against Scott Cravens and Jeff Marsh. Oregon took the session 4-2, however, and carried a 10-2 advantage into Thursday’s singles.
Western Washington put together its best session of the competition on Thursday. Dan Harrington defeated Chuck DaSilva 1 up, Tony Robydek earned a 4 & 3 victory over Kevin Coombs, Steven McNelly edged Jeff Marsh 1 up, and Jeff Groshell defeated Branden Thompson 2 up. Brian Davis and Scott Cravens battled to a tie to add another half point for Western Washington.
Oregon ultimately captured seven and a half of the 12 available singles points to close out the 2026 Hagen Cup with a 17.5-6.5 victory.
