Lucky #7 Win for Coston

2013SrWAOpenWinnerCoston Jeff Coston of Semiahmoo G&CC won his seventh 7 Cedars Senior Washington Open Invitational with a hard fought 1 stroke victory over Todd Erwin of Tacoma Firs Golf Center.  Erwin entered the third round with a three stroke lead after firing 66-69 in his first two rounds.  Coston opened with a birdie binge on the first few holes and by #6 they were tied.  Erwin closed out the front nine with birdies on #8 and #9 to take a one stroke advantage at the turn at 11 under par.  Erwin, however, had two bogies on the back nine and when Coston rolled in a clutch 6 foot putt on the last hole, he finished at 10 under par 206 for the one stroke victory.  Mike Givens, also of Tacoma Firs Golf Center finished third at 211.  

2011 Overall Champion Tom Brandes of Rainier G&CC and Larry Daniels of West Seattle GC tied for Low Amateur honors  at one under par 215.  The amateur crown was the fifth for Brandes and the second for Daniels.

The team of professional Mike DeLong, and amateurs Bob Christensen, Kent Brown and Duane Harris from Coeur d’Alene Resort won the team competition at 32-under 256.

Congratulations to amateur Chris Folkestad of Columbia Edgewater CC for his Hole-in-One on #8 in the second round!
